Camping in Hoosier National Forest Question: When is Hoosier National Forest open, and what is the cost of entry? Jed & Calz Walpole, NH jknight@top.monad.net Adventure Adviser: Just like L.L. Bean, this national forest in Indiana is open 365 days a year and day use doesn’t cost a dime. Camping’s another story. Hoosier’s five campgrounds, like popular Harden Ridge near Monroe Lake, are generally open Memorial Day through early October. After that they turn the water off and close up shop. Camping will run you between $8 and $10 per site per night. For more details, call forest headquarters at 812-275-5987. |
