I want to be an Eco-Challenger Question: Do you have any details for a team race called the Eco-Challenge? I would like to find details such as the length of the race, entry deadline, and costs. Thanks. Dan Jarratt Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada djarratt@rescan.com Adventure Adviser: Start saving now, Dan: The third annual back-breaking, run-yourself-into-the-ground “expedition-competition” will be held in Queensland, Australia, August 7-23, 1997. And be prepared for horseback riding, mountaineering, caving, rafting, mountain biking, and sea kayaking for eight to 10 days straight, over 300 miles of rough terrain. Registration started the middle of last month and spaces fill quickly on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve a slot for your co-ed, four-person team, you’ll need to fork over a $2,500 registration fee and then make three additional payments of $2,500 on set dates between now and April 15. Total damage: $10,000 per team–not including airfare. Ouch! Exact route details in Queensland won’t be released until the pre-race briefing the day before the start. Can’t wait to sign up? Then call the Eco-Challenge folks at 310-553-8855.
