Mexico: Too many options to count Question: What do you think of Mexico for a vacation? Tom Barnaby Whitehorse, Yukon gbarnaby@mail.polorcom.com Adventure Adviser: Considering that it’s October in Santa Fe and we already have about four feet of snow in the mountains, Mexico sounds pretty good to me right now. In fact, it sounds good to me most of the time, and how could it not, thanks to the near-embarrassment of vacation options there. Think about it: Casinos, discos, and the Love Boat in Acapulco (okay, I admit, not very tempting!); ancient Mayan ruins, long white-sand beaches, and stellar scuba diving on the Yucatan Peninsula; to-die-for mountain biking in 7,000-foot deep Copper Canyon; sea-kayaking quiet inlets and coves in the Sea of Cortés, off the Baja peninsula; and legendary surf-breaks along the Pacific Coast. In other words, how can you go wrong? You can’t. I could spend hours listing outfitters, accommodations, and don’t-miss spots in all of these regions, but instead I’ll just refer you to “La Ruta Tropical” in Outside‘s Winter 1996-97 Travel Guide, as well as the Destinations section of Outside‘s October 1996 issue.
