A look at Outside’s 2014 Travel Award winning trail, the Via Dinarica, on the Balkan Peninsula. The trail’s main artery, called the “White Trail,” encompasses nearly 1,250 miles of trekking and runs across 8000-foot peaks and picturesque meadows from Slovenia to Kosovo. Writer and Adventurer Alex Crevar set out on a section hike in June. Photographer Elma Okic captured video and stills from this unique trail.
