If your current wallet is dying, or just a rubber band, it’s time for an upgrade. Here are five options we've tested that look good, work well, and won't break the bank.

The paper-thin Ion is made from the same ripstop fabric used in military body armor, so it’s practically indestructible. Just don’t expect to load it down; this minimalist wallet was designed for your front pocket and only holds a couple cards and a little backup cash.

If you can’t pare your life down to just a few cards, the tri-fold design is for you. Quicksilver’s version is a retro mix of polyester and Velcro with plenty of room for cards, cash, and receipts It even has an exterior zipper pocket for change and a key.

It’s slim, but the Basics has enough room for 15 cards and a separate pocket for cash and coins. It also has a slick pull tab that lets you access your four most-used cards on the fly.

The Surfshorts is compact enough to fit in the tiny pocket of your boardshorts and has two zippered pockets for cards plus a keyring loop.

This is a classic, leather bi-fold wallet beefed up with an RFID-blocking layer to keep the microchips in your cards safe from hacking. Definitely not built for minimalism, the Hank has plenty of room for all the receipts and loyalty punch cards you can collect.
