April 18 marked the most lethal day in Mount Everest’s history, when a massive avalanche took the lives of 16 high altitude porters. Dawa Tashi and Kaji Sherpa were caught by the slide but managed to survive. Outside’s Grayson Schaffer met with both men just days later as they were recovering in Kathmandu hospitals.
