In episode four of the Das Boat YouTube series from MeatEater, Canadian angler April Vokey links up with Californian fisherman Oliver Ngy as they make a pilgrimage to central Florida to chase bass on famed Lake Okeechobee. As the headwaters of the Everglades, it’s iconic but also deeply threatened. The cornerstone of MeatEater’s message is to cook what you harvest, but the bass here are filled with green algae, a result of fertilizers being flushed into the lake.
